Real Righteousness

I speak a lot about building trust. How can we have any significant trust in a religious system which seems to ignore real life outcomes? The teaching that “our righteousness is in Christ” often comes across as if sin in this current life doesn't matter. This teaching, which emphasizes that our righteousness is only in Christ is true. It has some very important applications. Until we know that our righteousness is in Christ, every single thing we do will come out of human effort and will fall short of the glory of God. I get that. The right application of this doctrine is huge in its importance. Here’s the rub. This doctrine is used by many to justify the fact that they never grow up

Win Hearts

The love of God is constant. The power of God is never diminished. So why do entire generations fall away from God? All things work by spiritual authority. At the human level, all authority is collective. No one person gets to call the shots. The generation is pushed, pulled, and even dragged at times by all of the competing voices to a final destination. If some of those voices cry out to God, there is an infusion of God’s power into the situation, but there are still limitations. I go and go and go. In ministry, it never feels quite like enough is enough. There is always one more vital need that requires time and attention. Add that to “you can only be hurt by what you care about” and you have a potentially toxic mixture. Pastors care about ministry. They care about that next vital need being met. When that doe

Life Sayings

How do I get heart change? Below are 17 one liners that communicate some of the most important principles needed for heart change. The starting point is recognizing that what I focus on is powerful and the filters I use will determine what I see. My most used saying these days is "God comes to those who make room for Him." That one simple saying helps illuminate so much of who God is and how He operates. I hope these are a blessing to you!
